History of Windflower Farm
Windflower Farm has a rich history rooted in a passion for sustainable farming and a commitment to providing high-quality produce and products. Founded by Gigi Meyer, the farm initially specialized in growing gourmet-quality vegetables, herbs, fruit, and flowers. Along with this, Windflower Farm was proud to raise AWA (Animal Welfare Approved) livestock, including laying hens, dairy goats, and heritage pigs, emphasizing humane farming practices and a deep respect for the animals.
For over 30 years, Gigi has honed her expertise in horticulture and farming, cultivating a deep knowledge of the land and its cycles. Her journey began in the diverse climates of the San Juan Islands and continued through Taos, New Mexico, before eventually bringing her to the rolling hills of Tuscany, Italy. Each of these unique locations shaped her farming philosophy and helped refine her skills, allowing her to blend traditional farming techniques with modern sustainable practices.
Over time, Windflower Farm has evolved to focus exclusively on cultivating beautiful, loose-stem flowers. Drawing inspiration from Gigi’s travels and the landscapes she has worked in, the farm now specializes in growing stunning seasonal blooms that emphasize both beauty and sustainability. Windflower Farm’s flowers are grown with the same care and dedication that once went into all of the farm’s offerings—producing flowers that are not only beautiful but also environmentally conscious and naturally grown.
Today, Windflower Farm continues to be a testament to Gigi’s unwavering passion for farming, horticulture, and the environment. The farm’s flowers can be found gracing tables, bouquets, and gardens, each bloom representing the heart and soul of Windflower Farm’s long history and dedication to sustainable farming.
